How Jetta’s GPS On-Course Mode and Replay Mode Help Students and Coaches

/

Golfers make important decisions during every real round — and almost all of those decisions disappear afterward. You remember the score and maybe a few bad shots, but not the full decision process. Jetta’s GPS On-Course Mode and Replay Mode exist to fix that: they record what happened on the course and turn it into something a student and coach can actually review together.

Recording the round, not just the score

GPS On-Course Mode lets you log the round as it happens: tee location, ball location, club choice, lie, putting, and hole results. On the tee you record your starting position and strategy; after each shot you mark the next location; the app tracks the hole step by step.

This is not just a scorecard. A scorecard tells you what you shot. Jetta is trying to capture why it happened: did the player choose a smart target, understand the lie, take the safe side away from trouble — and did the result come from a bad decision or from poor execution of a good decision? That difference matters enormously for learning.

The design goal is to make recording useful without slowing down play. Golfers need to keep moving; the app captures the key evidence quickly — shot location, distance, club, lie, result, and the sequence of decisions. If a student hits into rough, tries a risky recovery, and makes double bogey, the coach can later see the whole chain instead of just hearing “I made double.”

The replay: a shared reference for coach and student

After the round, the recorded round opens in Replay Mode. Instead of relying on memory, coach and student can replay the hole: the shot path, the recorded locations, the club choices, the outcome. It becomes a shared reference.

Golfers often judge decisions by the result. But you can make a smart decision and hit a poor shot, or make a risky decision and get lucky. Jetta is built around separating those signals.

That separation is the center of the platform. A student might think, “I made double bogey, so everything was bad” — but the replay may show the tee-shot target was smart and the mistake happened later. Or it may show the swing result was fine, but the target was too aggressive. That distinction tells the student what to practice next.

For coaches, it creates a better lesson plan. Instead of guessing, a coach can spot patterns: repeatedly aiming at pins with trouble nearby, choosing the wrong club from rough, attempting hero recoveries when a simple reset would save strokes. Those patterns are nearly invisible from memory alone.

The bridge between lessons

Jetta is not trying to replace the coach — it is trying to improve the conversation between coach and student. Normally, the coach does not really know what happened between sessions. With On-Course and Replay, the student practices with a purpose, records the round, and brings back evidence for the next lesson.

That also changes the questions a coach can ask. Instead of “Why did you make double?”, the review becomes: “What were you trying to do here? What was the safe miss? Did the lie change the club choice? Was this a decision mistake or an execution mistake?” Feedback becomes less emotional and more evidence-based.

A film room for golf decisions

There is another payoff that is easy to miss: replay can build confidence. When a student chooses a wide, safe target and the ball still leaks into the rough, the replay can show the decision was reasonable — the lesson is about execution or shot pattern, not strategy. That protects good decision-making from being blamed unfairly, and teaches players not to overreact to one result. Golf has randomness and imperfect execution; the goal is better habits over many decisions.

Getting started

Start simple. Use Jetta during a practice round, record a few holes in GPS On-Course Mode — do not worry about being perfect — then open Replay Mode at home and look for one pattern. One pattern is enough to make the next practice session better.

Coaches: ask one student to use it for a practice round before the next lesson, then review a few holes together. Start with one question: did the student’s decisions match the lesson objective?
