Episode 14 – Set Up Your Jetta Profile: Make the Game Reflect You

Jetta doesn’t hand every golfer the same game — it models yours. In Episode 14 of the Jetta podcast, Maya and David walk through player profile setup: creating your account, choosing a starting profile, entering honest numbers, and using real on-course records to refine your statistics over time.

One account, every device

Start by creating a Jetta player account and signing in. The account identifies you when you play online or record rounds on the course, keeping your saved profile and synchronized round records tied to you. Use the same login on your phone and computer so recorded rounds come home for review. GPS rounds save on your phone during play and upload after you finish — make sure the upload completes before expecting to find the round on another device.

Choose the golfer you are today

Pick the built-in profile closest to your current ability. Your handicap helps as a starting point, but look at the distances and accuracy in the profile too — two golfers with the same handicap can play very different games. Choose the closest overall fit, not the profile you hope to reach someday.

Enter your own numbers honestly

If you know your distances, customize the profile: your usual club carry distances, accuracy, and putting statistics. Use normal performance — not your longest drive or the best seven iron you’ve ever hit. And remember carry is the ball’s flight before landing; don’t include the roll. Honest, consistent entries give you a more useful starting model. No reliable numbers yet? Start with the closest built-in profile and reasonable estimates — you can refine them later.

How the profile shapes your game

Jetta uses the profile in the simulation: your distances decide which shots are within reach, your accuracy shapes the modeled spread of outcomes, and your putting statistics shape simulated putting. A target near water might leave enough room for one golfer and be too demanding for another. Accurate statistics make the virtual round feel like your own game — and let you practice club and target decisions that actually make sense for you. It stays a simulation, but a realistic profile makes the practice relevant.

Let real rounds improve the numbers

Beyond estimates, record real golf with GPS On-Course Mode: shot positions, clubs, swings, lies, results — then upload the round. Accurate recording matters; a shot with the wrong club attached won’t teach you anything about the right club. Eligible on-course club statistics appear alongside your profile statistics, with the supporting evidence shown: attempts, successful shots, rounds. A couple of rounds can start building useful evidence for clubs you hit often; rarely-used clubs take longer. Check the evidence rather than assuming every club is ready.

You stay in control

When enough eligible evidence exists, you can choose Use values to apply the on-course estimates — after reviewing, before saving. Jetta never replaces your numbers automatically, and you can keep your existing entries if you and your coach think they still fit better. One windy round shouldn’t redefine your game: recorded endpoints are influenced by conditions, lies, roll, and execution. Treat estimates as evidence to consider, not perfect measurements.

The loop

Set up a profile, practice online, record real rounds, review the evidence, refine the profile. Your starting profile gets you playing; your real rounds give you information to improve it; your updated profile makes the next practice session more personal. Enter the golfer you are today — that’s the foundation for deciding what to improve next.
